Climate and soil requirement
Arecanut palm is successfully grown in moist tropical climate, where the average rainfall is 1200mm or above, but not tolerant to high elevations, It generally thrive in low elevations, especially near the coast, It is often grown as a mixed crop with other fruit trees, It require well-drained soil and good sunlight, it grows well between 14ºC to 36ºC. Sticky clay, sandy soil are not suitable for arecanut cultivation. arecanut palm does not withstand either water logging or drought the site should have proper drainage and adequate water source for irrigation
Land preperation
Pit size of 1×1 m, Standard spacing is 2.7×2.7×2.7 m, fill half of the pit with soil and compost then place the plant at center of this mixture. It is good practice to add composts such as leaf compost or manure while planting.
