The Peanut butter (Bunchosia glandulifera) is a species is a species of flowering plant in the Malpighiaceae family. It is native to Central America and south America. The plant produces small orange-dark red fruits of sticky and dense pulp, the fruit is about 2.5cm in size, with a flavour and aroma resembling of peanut butter.  It is mostly eaten fresh, but is also used for jellies, jams or preserves, it can reach of height upto 10-15 ft.

Climate and soil requirement

Peanut butter tree is a tropical tree and needs full sun and warm weather to grow and it cannot survive in freezing temperatures. Mature trees can tolerate temperatures as low as  5°c. The tree is a tropical tree, and it does not need chill hours.

Land preperation  

Peanut butter tree needs well-drained soil with high organic content. It prefers neutral to slightly acidic soil.  It is good practice to add composts such as leaf compost or manure while planting.
