Climate and soil requirement
The Barbados cherry can be classed as tropical and subtropical, It prefers dry, sandy soil and full sun, Mature trees can survive brief exposure to -2.22º C. Young plants are killed by any drop below -1.11º C. Because of its shallow roots, it has very low tolerance to winds. It is naturally adapted to both medium and low rainfall regions, can tolerate long periods of drought, though it may not fruit until the coming of rain.
Land preperation
Pit size of 60x60x60 cm should be dug with a distance between 5 to 6meter between each plant. It is good practice to add composts such as leaf compost or manure while planting.
